Amazon enjoyed uptick in quarterly sales
The dominance of Amazon in the world of safe shopping online has been clear for some time, but its latest sales figures suggest that it still has room to grow, according to Internet Retailing.
In Q2 of 2018 it saw a 39 percent boost to the revenues it generated via safe shopping online compared with the first three months of the year, raking in an extra 40.31 billion within the latest period.
Furthermore, it made predictions as to how its performance will improve going forwards, with double digit growth predicted for the next six months, leading up to yet another killer Christmas period.
In the UK alone a separate report form eMarketer Retail predicts that Amazon will see sales made via safe shopping online increase by 29 per cent over the course of the year. Since Britain is one of the most mature markets for web-based retail, it is no surprise to see it become such an important focus for Amazon’s operations.
It is not just the e-commerce sector that the company is continuing to conquer, but also other areas such as cloud computing and online advertising. Some experts are predicting that it will not be long before Amazon is worth $1 trillion, which would further bolster founder Jeff Bezos’ position as the richest person on the planet.
In spite of these positive numbers, there has been considerable controversy surrounding the way that Amazon runs its business in recent months. Worker strikes which coincided with Prime Day in July were designed to draw attention to the problematic policies and poor conditions faced by many of its employees.
Its tax affairs also remain a bone of contention for consumers who are looking to shop ethically. The good news is that with so many other online outlets available, there is no shortage of other sites to consider.
