Amazon schedules Prime Day follow-up
Next week Amazon has confirmed that it is going to hold a major savings event for members of its Prime subscription service, aiming to offer loyal customers better value for money when they enjoy safe shopping online on its site.
Prime Day is back for the second year in a row and will encompass tens of thousands of deals across a wide range of product categories, with all orders benefiting from the free delivery which is available to all Prime subscribers.
Amazon spokesperson, Doug Gurr, said that last year the inaugural Prime Day was a roaring success for the retailer and so repeating this event in 2016 was a no-brainer for the company. He also said that in addition to the deals and price cuts, there will be opportunities for subscribers to win competitions and earn prizes across the UK, North America and Japan.
In order to prepare for the influx of visitors that Amazon is expecting to handle on its site on July 12th when Prime Day kicks off, it is advising customers to download its official mobile app, which can be used to shop online.
While it may seem unlikely that Prime subscribers alone will be enough to cause disruption to Amazon’s site, the reality is that last year’s event was indeed one of the busiest days of the year for the firm. In fact only Black Friday topped it in terms of the number of orders placed, according to Internet Retailing.
The first deals in the run-up to Prime Day 2016 have already been made available, so for committed customers of this e-commerce giant there are currently opportunities to save money on many different items. And more customers may choose to subscribe now that there are further incentives for being Prime members, such as access to Amazon Fresh.
