E-commerce debut for Children In Need
Children In Need has announced this week that it is going to be creating a site from which visitors can carry out safe shopping online, to help raise money for the charitable organisation, according to Marketing Week.
The e-commerce site will allow people to purchase a wide variety of merchandising which is themed around the charity, with products ranging from practical things like towels to fun gifts. And with the profits going straight to a good cause, it should be a quick and easy way for consumers to do their bit this year.
This is not the first time that Children In Need has dabbled in the world of shopping online, as in the past, it has partnered with a number of retailers, including auction site eBay, to offer items to shoppers. But launching its very own e-commerce presence is a much bigger leap and one which could lead to it becoming a permanent fixture of the web.
Spokesperson, Sarah Monteith, said that she is expecting to see significant growth in the sale of merchandised products following the launch of the site, with plenty of work being done to ensure that this year’s TV and telethon event on November 14th is capable of raising another record-breaking amount of cash for causes in the UK.
British people will be encouraged to pursue their own fundraising initiatives as part of the drive and the sale of merchandise via the internet will no doubt be a big help, given the popularity of online shopping amongst consumers.
The digital presence of Children In Need will also encompass an online sign-up scheme, that helps people register their intent to raise cash. And with an emphasis on teamwork and a major ad campaign in the offing, success seems assured.
