New collection points for online orders made available by Royal Mail
Royal Mail is giving fans of safe shopping online more options when it comes to delivery. It is launching an additional slew of locations at which people can collect items they have ordered, rather than having to wait at home for them to arrive, according to TameBay.
There are already more than 10,000 collection points at Post Office outlets throughout the UK, but now more than 1,200 extra collection points have been added, as a result of the organisation allowing people to get packages sent direct to Royal Mail delivery offices.
Observers have pointed out that, in many cases, customers have to visit their local delivery office to collect a parcel as a result of not actually being at home when the original delivery was attempted. So this new scheme will ultimately cut out the middle man and make it more convenient for people to pick up items at a time that suits them.
Amazon has already been announced as a major partner with the Royal Mail in this scheme and this week it was confirmed that its customers can now choose a local delivery office as their preferred point of collection, for goods they ordered via safe shopping online.
Of the delivery offices which are eligible as collection points, around 100 are also open on Sundays, which expands the opportunities for consumers to pick up items beyond the normal restrictions.
Royal Mail has been offering local collection for the past two years and, at the moment, there is no other organisation which can match it in terms of the breadth of its network of collection points. It recognises that customers are increasingly savvy about digital services and is adapting its products to suit the trends that are emerging.
