Precision delivery slots offered by ASOS
E-commerce clothing retailer ASOS has partnered with logistics firm DPD in order to improve the delivery experience for its customers and take the guesswork out of the process.
In most cases when consumers in the UK order products via safe shopping online for home delivery, they simply get given a day upon which their items are likely to arrive. And if the package will be too large to fit through their letter box, then they will need to remain at home to take delivery in person.
This is an inconvenient state of affairs for anyone with a moderately busy schedule, which also explains why click and collect has become popular in the UK.
But with ASOS' Precise delivery option, customers will be able to select a specific delivery slot at the checkout, meaning that they will have a much smaller window of waiting to endure.
This service lets customers pick any day in the next week, then select a specific hour within that day to receive their package. Unfortunately, this is only available between 11am and 5pm, meaning that it may not suit those who commute a long distance to work each day.
For people who can pop home in their lunch break, being able to schedule a delivery after ordering from ASOS via safe shopping online is truly advantageous. Company spokesperson, Matt Rogers, said that this service is all about giving customers control over how and when their products arrive.
Rogers explained that the e-commerce market was incredibly competitive at the moment, meaning that retailers like ASOS have to work hard to differentiate themselves from their rivals. Delivery is one aspect of the online ordering process which receives the most scrutiny from consumers, so adding flexibility to it should help to win over more people.
