UK E-Commerce Launch for American Eagle Confirmed
American Eagle is one of the leading US fashion brands for youngsters and has recently started to appear in the UK, with bricks-and-mortar stores opening up in London in 2014.
Now the company is looking to expand its reach and access the entire nation of consumers by launching a site that will let Brits buy its products via safe shopping online, according to Drapers.
The American Eagle site will go live next month, with UK customers able to place orders via a platform that is specifically tailored to their needs. Although interestingly, the clothing that is ordered will still have to be shipped from a distribution centre in the Netherlands.
This is far closer to the UK than the previous US distribution centre used by the brand to serve its international customers, making it more affordable to deliver items which are ordered via safe shopping online.
Company spokesperson Simon Nankervis explained that the UK is home to one of the world’s most energetic e-commerce markets, and as a result American Eagle expects that it will perform well once it establishes itself on our soil.
He also said that up to four new American Eagle stores will be introduced in the UK over the course of 2016, with the e-commerce platform also being used to support the growth of its high street presence.
This retailer enjoyed as 12 per cent jump in sales in the second quarter of 2015, while it is also seeing stellar profits at the moment and is pursuing international expansion that will allow it to enter 22 different national markets by the end of the year.
The UK could soon become one of its most important markets, especially if it finds success with its online outlet in the run-up to Christmas.
